We support with compassion, empower with respect, and guide with purpose.
Our story
Ascend Community Services was founded out of a deep commitment to helping individuals and families thrive. Our founder, with over 16 years of frontline and leadership experience in developmental services, mental health, youth justice, and community support, saw firsthand how skilled, compassionate care could change lives.
Inspired by this experience, Ascend was created to provide person-centred support for children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities, autism, FASD, dual diagnoses, and complex behaviours. We focus on building confidence, independence, and belonging, ensuring every person is seen, heard, and supported.
Serving families across Southwestern Ontario — including the Waterloo Region, Guelph/Wellington, and Oxford County — our team brings the founder’s vision to life: a community where everyone has the tools and opportunities to reach their full potential.
Driven by passion
At Ascend Community Services, everything we do is guided by
our mission: to elevate the lives of individuals with complex needs through compassionate, person-centred support that builds confidence, independence, and belonging.
Our vision is a future where individuals with complex needs and their families experience stability, growth, and an improved quality of life through coordinated, compassionate services. This vision shapes all of our programs and interactions, ensuring that every person we support has the tools, skills, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
What Guides Us
At Ascend Community Services, our work is guided by principles that put people first. We prioritize safety, ensuring that every individual feels secure physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Inclusion and equity are at the heart of our approach — we value each person’s voice, respect their choices, and provide fair, accessible support for all. Collaboration drives our partnerships with families, caregivers, and community systems, while empowerment is central to helping individuals build skills, confidence, and independence. We honour cultural diversity and lived experience, and our trauma-informed approach ensures that every interaction fosters healing, resilience, and trust.
